Alesma: A True Truck Enthusiast

Alberto Esteban Martín, better known as “Alesma,” calls us from the cab of his truck. One of his employees has fallen ill, and he had to cover for him.

He tells us that this is what he loves most about his job: driving. The company has grown, and he has to spend more time in the office, so he takes advantage of these moments behind the wheel to enjoy his passion.

His Beginnings and Transformation

A native of Medina de Rioseco, Valladolid, the life of this trucker from Valladolid has been tied to transportation for over three generations. He laughs as he shares that his grandfather was also a transporter, though he started with a cart and a mule. As his father always said, “Alberto cut his teeth on trucks.”

He began his career as a transporter in 2005, hauling construction materials with a second-hand Volvo FH 12 and a semi-trailer with fold-down sides. However, the housing crisis forced him to reinvent himself and start working with tippers. “After all, I live in the breadbasket of Spain, and it was the most logical change,” Alesma says.

Although his first tipper was not a Tisvol, when he started working with bulk materials, he had the opportunity to buy a second-hand Tisvol bathtub in excellent condition from a transporter in Rafelbuñol, Valencia. Since then, he has never looked back.

Over the years, that second-hand Volvo and tipper have transformed into a fleet of 14 tractor units with their respective semi-trailers, all Tisvol. The growth of his company has meant that he spends more time away from the trucks, having to dedicate more time to management tasks.

Passion for Classics

He confesses that his reward after a hard week of work is getting into one of his trucks and hitting the road, especially in his classic trucks from the now-defunct Barreiros brand. He is an absolute fan of them, their history, and their founder, Eduardo Barreiros, about whom he says he could talk for hours.

Dignifying the Trucking Profession

When asked about the present and future of transportation, Alberto calls for the dignification of the profession. “Sometimes people see a truck and only see a piece of iron. They forget that inside, there’s a person who sleeps and works in the cab, sacrificing time with family and friends.”

Alberto is one of those clients who has grown alongside Tisvol. For us, having a true truck enthusiast continue to choose us year after year drives us to keep working with dedication and effort, reminding us why we are passionate about what we do.
